Born in Milan, he began his studying the guitar with his father, and then attended the Conservatory "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan, where he took his diploma with the highest marks and honours. He later studied with David Russell, who greatly inspired his technical development.
He has won prizes in national and international competitions, both as a soloist as well as in duos with the flautist Gaia Scabbia, with whom he has recorded a Cd of the works of Anton Diabelli for flute and guitar for the record company Agorà.
As soloist, he has recorded "Le Rossiniane" and "Le ore di Apollo" for Arkadia and Agorà. Recently, he has published four Cds for the label Sinfonica; three included in collections of contemporary music Quattro studi da concerto (Four Concert Studies) by Livio Torresan, Dodici studi (Twelve Etudes) by Eligio Bratus, Dodici studi (Twelve Etudes) by Giuliano Manzi and another with the arrangement of the Fugue BWV 1000 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
He recorded and published for the same label a DVD dedicated to guitar maker Pietro Gallinotti. The work contains a recital using ten different Gallinotti guitars built during a period from 1933 to 1965 and two modern copies (2002-2010). The second part of the recording contains a comparison of the twelve instruments.
Besides his normal concert routine, he is also an editorial consultant for Sinfonica musical editions, especially for contemporary music and today’s music education needs. He has personally edited the publication of five Anthologies of contemporary music for guitar, the critical revision of the Venticinque studi melodici progressivi op. 60 (Twenty-five progressive melodic études op. 60) by Matteo Carcassi and Venti studi (Twenty études) by Fernando Sor. He is the author of a successful method for beginners entitled A scuola con la chitarra (At school with the guitar).
He is an instructor at the annual courses of the guitar academy "Giulio Regondi" in Milan and the Conservatory "Luca Marenzio" in Brescia (Darfo Boario Terme branch). He holds master classes every two years at the Federal University of Santa Maria in Brasil.
He plays guitars built by Pietro Gallinotti between the years 1933-1957.
